Last February, light, noise, talking, even thinking was difficult to handle. Brain rest was what I needed to recover. The only thing I could do without getting nauseous was draw. Drawing cleared my brain and brought me peace of mind. No thought and no plan, just repetitive patterns.
These are small oil pastel sketches I did for two friends after Christmas break. A reminder of some great memories we had over the summer.
With my art studio (aka garage) being a little on the cold side this winter, my paints are hibernating. I’m a messy painter so it is better that they do not come in the house. To keep myself working, I’m trying Paintsticks They have the faint smell of oils, they run smooth across the paper, they layer, blend and are easy to transport. I really like them. The following pictures are color studies but have brought on some new ideas for the future.
The last picture is my birthday morning sketch. Sunrise by my bay window which faces east.

Look for my next post on April 1st.
